Full Description
{1} A very dark humic layer, recorded in section, was up to 1.10m deep and contained fragments of rotting wood. It was sealed by a series of mixed layers of clay and stones. This was the only coherent layer recorded, probably formed as the result of water logging and represented the remains of a pond or a lake. The eastern limits were found but the true extent was unknown. With the exception of this layer no archaeological deposits were recorded on the site. The pottery found was undiagnostic, consisting of a small body of sherds dating to the late saxon and late medieval.
