Full Description
{1}K Fearn and G Cadman recovered 5 worked flints from the badger spoil at Approx. SP9168/6680. All are from unstratified sett upcast. G Philips of Northamptonshire Heritage has examined the material and identifies it as follows; 1 x micro burin, 1 x obliquely blunted point, 1 x patinated blade fragment. These three are potentially of Mesolithic origin. In addition 2 x undiagnostic waste flakes.
{2}The flints have been formally identified by A Brown of English Heritage. His comments differ slightly from G Phillips of Northamptonshire Heritage.A Brown says ,"I agree about the microburin but not the ob. blunted point. The microburin is likely to be earlier mesolithic and the others could be too, although they could belong to anytime up to the abandoment of blade oriented reduction in the middle neolithic."
