Full Description

{1} Finds consisted of some sherds of C12 to C17th pottery and clay pipe, together with modern glass and tile.
The evaluation produced a highly abraided group of largely undiagnostic medieval and post medieval pottery. In total there were 40 sherds. The entire assemblage was retrieved form the subsoil in Trenches 1,2,4,5,6. It is of little value for dating purposes, but the presence of the material indicates activity from the medieval period.
The medieval pottery is represented by 4 sherds of sandy coarseware and 1 sherd of Brill.
The post medieval pottery is of C18th and C19th and represented by glazed red earthenwares, manganese mottled ware, creamwares and transfer printed earthenwares, together with a rim sherd from a flowerpot.
Other finds include a mouth piece from a clay tobacco pipe and an iron nail.

{2} Medieval occupation deposits, watching brief by G Cadman.
