Summary
Cropmarks of a Roman trackway and finds of Roman pottery, building debris, tile, tesserae, a bronze bell, ring, iron chisel, spindle whorl and coins suggest a 1st to 4th century settlement.

Full Description
{1} Fieldwalking survey from 1957 onwards has found Iron Age and Roman pottery including grey ware, Samian, colour-coated ware, tesserae, roof tiles, a spindle whorl, Roman coins, a bronze brooch, flat bronze rings, a decorated bronze strip, pieces of lead, an iron chisel and ironstone.
{4} A Roman spindle whorl was found at SP 811582 in Little Houghton parish in April 1967.
{5} RB Pottery, tile fragments, tesserae and coins found 1957 onwards by R H Hollowell. In Northampton Museum.
{6} The field in which these many finds have been made is now under crop.
{8} SP 811581 Several 1st-4thc sherds and some roof tile fragments, limestone and sandstone scatter, large white tesserae and coins found since 1957. Other finds include a spindle whorl, bronze bell and ring, an iron chisel and lead objects. Finds in Northampton museum.
{9} Fieldwalking recovered a small scatter of stone within a larger pottery scatter, maybe relating to a possible building
