Summary
A right-angled trapezoidal ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date and pit cluster of uncertain date and function is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Located in a large field east of New England Farm, the cropmarks comprise a right-angled trapezoidal ditch that encloses an area about 80 x 73 metres at its widest visible point. The NE corner of the enclosure is not visible and may represent an entrance. Mainly concentrated immediately to the west, but also scattered to the north and south of the enclosure is a cluster of 25 pits of various sizes and shapes of uncertain date or function.

{3} Part of 2 rectangular enclosures on AP in 1982.
{4} A right-angled trapezoidal ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date and pit cluster of uncertain date and function is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Located in a large field about 734 metres east of New England Farm and centred at TL 02565 70470, the cropmarks comprise a right-angled trapezoidal ditch up to 3.5 metres wide that encloses an area about 80 x 73 metres at its widest visible point. The NE corner of the enclosure is not visible and may represent an entrance. Mainly concentrated immediately to the west, but also scattered to the north and south of the enclosure is a cluster of 25 pits of various sizes and shapes of uncertain date or function, of which one is located within the ditched enclosure.
