Full Description

{1} Brass rubbing of Lady Gertrude Fitzpatrick (1841).

{3} Topographical comparison with adjacent townships suggests that Grafton originated as a new 'tun' created out of land originally attached to Barton Seagrave. The highly rectilinear form of the field system and village might support his interpretation.
There were two holdings in Grafton in 1086; one was a manor of three hides which included a priest. The parts were eventually united and descended to the Greenes of Drayton and bought by the Duke of Montagu in 1748.
