A small number of features containing Saxon pottery were observed during quarrying. Fieldwalking identified a small scatter of Saxon pottery in the field surrounding the pit

Full Description

{1}A number of features were observed in a sand pit; one was a posthole which measured 0.48m deep and 0.38m wide and which contained early-middle Saxon pot sherds; 2 hearths were located close by; Fieldwalking; a number of early-middle Saxon pot sherds were recovered from the "field surrounding the sand pit".
