{1} The date of enclosure of the common fields of Hanging Houghton is not known but was certainly before 1655.
{2} Furlong names are recorded in charters and include Oldfield (1311) and a terrier of c1500 mentions Egdale Field, Furside the Broke and Wold Field. In 1575, they are Garbrode Field, Egdale Field, Clint Hill Field.
