Original boundaries and size uncertain: much evidence lost due to ironstone quarrying. N boundary can be traced on air photographs. E, W and S boundaries probably followed parish boundaries, though the park may originally have been delimited to the S by a bank running along Fineshade Brook enclosing a smaller area.

{5} In 1234 William de Cantilupe was granted licence to empark.

In the 10th year of reign of Richard II (1387) William la Zouch of Totteneys obtained licence to inclose with a stone wall and make a castle of his manor house here. In the reign of James I the manor was purchased by Abraham Tryon, Esq. In 1648 it was in the hands of Moses Tryon. The present possessor is Charles Tryon, Esq, who owns the whole lordship except for two or three very small freeholds.

{10} Male issue of the Souches failed (Eliz) and the estate was sold to Clark of Bulwick, and the house pulled down.
