Summary

Fieldwalking survey undertaken in 1967 identified an area of dark soil with Roman pottery. There were other areas of charcoal staining in the vicinity.

Full Description

{1} Seven patches of dark earth recorded, one with Roman pottery on it.

{2} Newton Bromswold 5. SP 991639. About 3 acres of pebbles and Romano-British pottery, very dark in the central area, centred SP 992638; Samian and Castor wares and coarse brown pottery. Other dark areas with pebbles and Romano-British pottery occur at SP 991641.


{3} Dark occupation area, with pebbles and Roman pottery. Other dark areas of charcoal staining in the vicinity;
