Full Description

{1} Area of SP727750. A large rectangular enclosure was photographed from the air in 1968.

{2} SP 727751; A site previously known from aerial photography was visited. There are some Roman sherds on the dark occupation area, and pottery of uncertain date, looking like Bronze Age, but probably sub-Roman. The ploughed out ramparts of the rectangular enclosure were very plain to see.

{3} Air photos show a rectangular enclosure 85m x 30m, orientated north-east to south-west and at right angles to a small stream. It is overlaid by ridge and furrow. On the ground the enclosing bank still survives 0.25m high. Although Roman pottery has been found the earthwork may not be Roman in date.

{4} Cropmark of a rectangular enclosure. NCCAP:SP7275/001-3.

{5} Roman pottery and some other sherds of unknown date but probably Roman, have been discovered.
