Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking recovered a sparse scatter of prehistoric flints over much of two fields, with a particular concentration at SP723565. Also recovered was one Iron Age pot sherd, Romano-British pot sherds and a quern fragment from the site of an enclosure.

{2} Enclosure (SP 723564) SE of the village, on sand and gravel at 88 m above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show a small D-shaped enclosure 80 m. by 30 m. orientated NE-SW. Within it and in the surrounding area are numerous other cropmarks, but these appear to be mainly natural. The site is apparently that recorded on a number of occasions, each with an incorrect grid reference {sources 5-8}. A single Iron Age sherd and some Roman pottery have been found on the site.

{4} (SP 724564). A cropmark site where finds have been located, including a few worked flints and five Roman sherds.
