Find Spot record 4751/0/1 - Unstratified Saxon and medieval pottery, south of Stoke Park

Field survey has identified a Saxon and medieval pottery scatter as well as two pieces of worked flint

{2} Fourteen sherds of early/middle Saxon pottery, including one decorated sherd, together with a small quantity of later material, were recovered during fieldwalking. The concentration lay on a prominent knoll adjacent to the river Tove.

{4} 28 sherds of pottery plus one tile fragment and two flint blade pieces. Finds made almost wholly from the area of higher ground in the north west part of the field. A concentration of gravel pieces evident on ploughsoil surface around the northern and western sides of this area. In addition to medieval pottery some possible Saxon sherds present. Further analysis needed to confirm pottery identification and dates.
