Summary
Roman coins and pottery were found in a well or pit in 1907 and in 1909 a skeleton and a further coin were found near Holy Trinity together with large slabs of burnt limestone and large quantities of pottery.

Full Description
{1} From time to time a few Romano-British coins have turned up in gardens of Queen's Park Estate. Slight excavations needed for foundations of Holy Trinity Church showed more definite proof of Romano-British occupation. Twelve Romano-British "vases" & 2 dishes of black ware & 1 sherd of mortaria & 1 coin; also several large slabs of burnt ironstone & single skeleton 12yds from pot sherds & 2ft beneath surface.
{2} Possible Roman Settlement (centred SP 754625), in and around Edinburgh Road, in Queen's Park. Roman coins and pottery, including Samian ware, were found in a well or pit in 1907 in an area where other Roman coins had been found earlier. A skeleton and a coin of Valentinian were discovered near Holy Trinity Church in 1909 together with several large slabs of burnt ironstone and a large quantity of Roman pottery. A silver coin of Eugenius (AD 393–4) was found in the same area in 1953.
