Full Description

{1}Enclosures and ditches (SP 771553). Air photographs (not seen by RCHM) are said to show cropmarks of a ring ditch and two sub-rectangular enclosures.

{4} Archaeological evaluation identified a small number of undated features in the same location as the cropmarks. Trench 164 contained two gullies, probably continuations of the gullies in trench 166. They were aligned east to west and measured between 0.5 and 0.8m wide by approx 0.3m deep. Trench 166 also contained a ditch, 1m wide by 0.38m deep with moderately steep sides and a gently concave base. All three features cut the subsoil, suggesting they are relatively recent and may be of agricultural date. A shallow ditch or possibly a linear depression of natural origin crossed the northern end of the trench on an east to west alignemnt. It was c.1m wide by 0.06m deep. Trench 171 contained three linear gullies, all on slightly different alignments. All the gullies measure approx 0.5m wide by 0.2m deep.
