Summary
Archaeological watching brief undertaken in Spring/Summer 1992 found evidence of late Iron Age/early Roman settlement, including hundreds of postholes, a number of ditches. Later Roman settlement included the remains of a stone-founded building. A drying oven was also found.

Full Description
{1} Minor rescue excavation from May to July 1992. Hundreds of late Iron Age/early Romano-British postholes. One roundhouse was identified from the patterning. Several V-shaped ditches revealed. Further finds included a large possibly late Romano-British building with ironstone walls and an area of compacted mortar. A stone-lined corn-dryer was also found and completely excavated.
[The SMR report form suggests that there was more detailed recording of the building and a plan of the postholes- in archive?]
