Full Description

{1} Two concentrations of flint were identified during the reconnaissance. The largest, some 8ha in extent, occurs in the same area as the cropmarks, whilst the smaller scatter some 100m to the west is only 1ha in size. The intervening area and to the north and west probably contain alluvium which masks the full extent of the scatter. The smaller concentration has lower proportions of debitage and parent material, and a slightly greater number of implements.
Site 26b. A smaller area of higher density flint to the west of the main concentration contained 19 pieces. The single core has many hinge termination scars which are characteristic of the post-Beaker Bronze Age industry. With the exception of the micro-burin, the other retouched forms appear to be entirely of Beaker or later date. The composition of the group is comparable with the much larger scatter to the east, although obvious Neolithic tool forms are absent.
