Full Description

{2}Settlement cropmarks include ditched enclosures with possible ring ditches & other ditches & pits;

{1}Both aerial photography & magnetometer survey have identified a narrow & elongated enclosure; cropmark indicates extent of settlement whilst magnetometer survey has added to internal detail, including evidence of at least four roundhouses and possible hearths and pits; this enclosed settlement is possibly occupied from Iron Age to late Roman period;

{3} Aerial photography and magnetometer survey identified partly double-ditched enclosure with internal features; fieldwalking survey indicated Iron Age pottery confined almost exclusively to the limits of the main enclosure; for the early Roman period the amount pf pottery within the enclosure increases but, significantly, remains tightly located within its boundaries. A similar pattern suggests continuity into the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, perhaps with an increased emphasis in the central section. Late Roman pottery is only present in the southern part of the enclosure and its lower density suggests that the settlement is in decline, if not abandoned by the end of the 3rd century.
