Full Description
{1} Early middle Saxon pottery scatter of 30 sherds in area of 5.3 hectares.
{2} Three concentrations of early-middle Saxon pottery were identified to the north of Hargrave village. They are divided from each other by the main stream and a smaller tributary valley, sited between 300m and 700m apart.
The concentration at Black Lodge occurs some 300m across the stream where 30 sherds cover an area of 5.3ha on the valley side. The scatter runs along the valley side, but the proximity of the disused railway makes detailed division hazardous.
