Full Description
{1}Owners from sometime prior to 1891 Butlin Bevan & Co. and from 27th June 1889 Thomas Butlin & Co.Ltd., the date of closure is unknown but is unlikely to be later than the early years of the 20th century. The first output records are shown for 1881/2 but it is possible that the output for earlier years is shown wth that of Ringstead. In 1884 there is an order by the company for a locomotive and this suggest a date for the opening of a tramway. The course of the tramway can be in little doubt as it is believed to have followed the course of the stream to the LNWR Northampton to Peterborough line. It crossed the main street of Great Addington village by a gated level crossing. There is no trace of the trackbed or level crossing still visible.
