Summary

Full Description

{1} A Roman ditch was excavated and contained pot sherds and vessels, a brooch, kiln furniture, animal bones, charcoal, and burnt pebbles and limestone. The grid ref. given conflicts with that in source 10. Field name: Second Long hill

{2} SP 824600 Second long hill. Few RB sherds including a single 1st c. samian. Ditch excavated in 1963 contained kiln waste, much first century pottery, animal bones and a well preserved Aucissa brooch. All finds in Northampton museum.

{3} A ditch excavated in 1963 produced Roman pottery, and Aucissa brooch of 1st century AD and firebars.

Romano-British pot sherds recovered whilst fieldwalking. Field name: Second Long Hill

{4} Excavations in 1963 across a ditch produced more pottery and a brooch, both of the 1st century, animal bones and kiln bars. Roman pottery has been discovered over a wide area. SP824601
