Summary

Fieldwalking survey prior to 1965 found Roman pottery and limestone rubble suggesting the site of a possible settlement. A Romano-British mortarium and a stone road of uncertain date were found.

Full Description

{1} Roman settlement (TL 037812) around Thorpe Fox Covert on a patch of River Gravel at 110 ft above OD. Roman pottery and limestone rubble have been found over a wide area.

{2} Romano-British mortaria sherds found a few years prior to 1965. Pot in Kettering Museum. TL037812.

{3} (TL 037812) Fragments of an RB mortarium found a few years prior to 1965 by Mr D Beely, 14 Dryden Cose, Titchmarsh. In WestfieldMuseum, Kettering.

{4} TL 036811 Thorpe Fox Covert. Stone road of uncertain date running east-west, and sherds of a mortarium.
