Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation comprising of fieldwalking and geophysical surveys were carried out on land at Middlemore Farm, Daventry in December 1999 before proposed development for residential housing. The fieldwalking survey recovered no concentrations of archaeological material. Only three flint flakes were found over the area and a very thin spread of abraded Roman pottery, a couple of medieval sherds and a little post-medieval pottery. The small collection of Roman pottery probably represents either a manure scatter or casual loss from a nearby Roman site. The magnetometer survey found no archaeological anomaly other than surviving ridge and furrow.
