Abstract/Summary

A desk-based study and trial excavation was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology ahead of proposed residential development of a 0.21ha site on land to the rear of Chambers Row, Welford, Northamptonshire (SP 6429 8065). This desk-based assessment shows that the land was used for an orchard as depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch map of 1886. A single pit containing Roman pottery sherds was found during excavation.
