Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken at London Road, Wollaston, Northamptonshire because the site is located within an area of known archaeological remains. In particular an evaluation of the site revealed Early-Middle Saxon and Saxo-Norman deposits. No further remains from these periods have been identified on the site, although a pair of modern parallel boundary ditches recorded during the evaluation were located. Two features, a gully and a ditch, both believed to be earlier and both orientated north-south were discovered but were undated. A number of undated pits, ditches and a large cut feature were recorded but the lack of artefactual evidence prevents any functional interpretation. It is probable that some of these features are modern. Only a small number of finds were recovered from the site and the majority of these from modern deposits. All the medieval pottery from this watching brief was either residual or unstratified.
