Abstract/Summary

Construction of a manege at Grafton Court, Foscote, involved the preparation of a level platform on slightly sloping pasture. The site lies adjacent to the deserted medieval settlement of Foscote and was covered in ridge-and-furrow earthworks running SE-NW which had been slightly disturbed. Site levelling was achieved by a cut and fill operation, so that only about half the 20 x 40m area of the manege site was disturbed. No buried archaeological features were noted in the course of work.
