Three mounds, the larger central mound is probably the mound described by John Cole (History And Antiquities Of Wellingborough in 1837, p18) as a tumulus, on the verge at Swans'-Pool Rivulet about half a mile from Croyland Hall. This mound survives between the Swanspool Brook and a modern path, about one third of the distance between two modern footbridges, towards the upper, at the given grid reference, it measures 27 metres at the base, 20 at the top, with central depression 7 metres across, and is surrounded by a ditch up to 5 metres broad. Cole's description and a plan and other details are attached as a report headed "Croyland Park, Wellingborough, Three Enigmatic Mounds - Cole's Barrow?" The mounds NE and SW area less substantial, respectively 23x35 metres with sunken top, and 25 metres diametre with small sunken area, and ditch round. There are other features nearby.
