Abstract/Summary

A report “Document Search: The Course Of The Medieval Town Wall, St Andrew’s Hill to Abington Street, Northampton” accompanies this notification. This report includes sketch plans. It demonstrates 1) That the Medieval wall included St Andrew’s Priory in its circuit. 2) That the civil war defences correspond to the medieval wall. 3) That the Medieval wall ran from south of Mill Lane, along the south side of St George’s Street, Campbell Street, Upper Mounts and Lower Mounts, though it probably lies beneath the south side of Lower Mounts.
