Abstract/Summary
Desk-based assessment and geophysical survey of the proposed new grain store at Rowler Farm, Brackley has produced no evidence of past activity of archaeological interest. In addition, part of the proposed development site was found to have been quarried, probably during the 19th or early 20th century. Early indications that the site might produce evidence of a Roman period roadside or estate related activity, because of the Scheduled Roman settlement (NSMR 5717) and the possible course of a Roman road have proved unfounded. Similarly, whilst the location of Iron Age enclosures in the area had raised the possibility that evidence of Iron Age activity might be found on the site, this too has proved unfruitful.
