Abstract/Summary

An archaeological evaluation was carried out pursuant upon proposals to convert existing barns at Castle Farm, Fotheringhay to domestic use. A single 6m by 1.5m trench was opened in the area of the proposed sewage treatment tank within the courtyard. A pit and a shallow posthole were discovered, neither of which contained any dating evidence. It was also noted that the ground level in the courtyard was c. 0.76m below the floor level of the surrounding farm buildings.
