Abstract/Summary

A report and sketch plan dated 6th May 2002 develops a previous report on this site 24th August 1994. It combines landscape interpretation and documentary research to locate the mansion known as the Great or West Lodge or Moulton Ark House, and to show how the same site might have served as the location of the earlier park keeper’s lodge. It identifies the site of the house, possibly an Elizabethan foundation, demolished in 1861, and an enclosure containing it both within and south of the park boundary. The present ha-ha and other features may indicate the site of a moat.
