Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Northamptonshire Archaeology at The Mount, a motte or ringwork dating to the 11th or 12th century, at Alderton, Northamptonshire. The work was carried out during the excavation of postholes for the erection of a signboard and display lectern at the entrance to the site. With the exception of an undated stone feature, possibly a wall or foundation, to the south of the surrounding ditch, no archaeological finds or features were encountered.
