Abstract/Summary

In connection with a programme of works associated with pipeline replacement, a two stage evaluation took place, comprising Stage 1: a metal detector survey and a field walking survey together with Stage 2: a watching brief. The watching brief was maintained during Topsoil stripping of c500m of the pipeline route on the basis that important archaeological remains may have survived in this field. This comprised the second and final stage of archaeological evaluation carried out in order to produce a scheme of mitigation. No archaeological finds or deposits were revealed, although the natural geology was reached over the whole of this area.
