Abstract/Summary
An Archaeological Watching Brief was carried out during the groundworks for the construction of a new house. The site appears to have been situated to the rear of a group of post-medieval cottages and to the West of a quarry. In modern times the site was occupied by a shop and associated outbuildings but otherwise seems to have been garden. Much of the site had been levelled-down to bed bedrock in recent years and other areas had been disturbed by the footings and drains associated with late twentieth buildings (shop and sheds). Two pit-like features of unknown date were recorded during the excavation of the house foundations. No other pre-modern (nineteenth century) remains were observed.
