Abstract/Summary
The Herdman Manufacturing Co Ltd has relocated to other premises and the factory has become redundant. As a consequence this has become a prime site for a new domestic housing development. A building recording and analysis was requested prior to demolition. The analysis has highlighted that some of the construction material fabric of the existing building pre-dates 1800. Due to the severe lack of primary documentation much of the evidence is reliant on secondary references and maps.
