Abstract/Summary

A small area excavation was carried out along the projected line of the Roman road between Towcester and Alschester. Traces of rudimentary cobbling were found up slope from the hollow-way, and it is suggested thatthis was the vestigial remains of the Roman Road now largely ploughed out. The cobbling was flanked by possible quarry pits.
