Abstract/Summary

A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for the construction of a new garage. Medieval deposits survived on the E part of the site, 0.5m below ground level. The corner of a medieval stone building was uncovered within a few metres of the W moat. It was clay floored and contained a possible oven, and is dated to the middle to late 12th century. The walls were partly robbed in the 15th century. The remains were preserved in situ.
