Abstract/Summary
Wessex Archaeology (London) was commissioned by Environ UK to undertake an Archaeological Desk-based Assessment on the site of Gladstone Sidings, Northampton. This is to assess the potential for surviving archaeological remains likely to be affected by the propsed new buildings and trackwork. This desk-based Assessment has utilised publicly accessible archive sources to investigate, the extent of any known or potential archaeological resource with the Site and the surrounding Stidy Area. Despite the presence of prehistoric and Roman artefacts and evidence on the Site, quarrying and railway construction are likely to have truncated archaeological remains, so the potential for significant impact arising from the proposed developemnt on archaeological features is limited.
