Abstract/Summary
Horseshoe Street runs through the centre of Northampton's historic core. It os located close to the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Saxon Northampton. Previous excavations have investigated and published extensive remains dating from the earley-middle Saxon period through the medieval and post-medieval periods (c400-1750). These are to be found to both west and east of the site. Historic mas show a built-up frontage from 1610 to 1901, but from at least 1927 to today the site has lain open. Archaeological remains may survice although these may have been impacted by cellaring during the 18th and 19th centuries
