Abstract/Summary

In November 2005 a fieldwalking survey was undertaken as part of a pre-pllanning assessment of c. 49 ha of land located on the northern outskirts of Daventry. Very little archaeologically significant material was identified. A light scatter of worked flints was present across the site. A concentration that may indicate prehistoric activity is noted in the field southeast of the farm buildings. Four sherds of Romano-British pottery and two sherds of Medieval pottery were recovered during fieldwalking but significant concentrations are absent. A general spread of post C18th pottery, tile, damaged field drain and brick were also uidentified probably related to agricultural activities and rubbish tipping.
