Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted an evaluation comprising four trenches at Chester Lodge in the south-east corner of Irchester Roman town in advance of a proposed building extension. The probable remains of the foundations of the Roman town wall were identified in one trench. The other trenches also contained soils and other deposits of Roman date. The Roman pottery is dated to the mid 1st to 2nd centuries and includes some residual early 1st century pottery.
