Abstract/Summary

The historical evolution of the Badby Estate has been described within the Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment prepared by John Samuels Archaeological Consultants (JSAC Report). We have carried out some additional research to supplement this study, concentrating upon the designed landscape and setting of Badby House. The result of this research is presented as a series of annotated illustrations, maps and overlays in Appendix A to the rear of this report. Based upon the JSAC Report and our further research, we have carried out an analysis of the designed landscape as far as this can be determined from the early maps. Furthermore, we have assessed the landscape of the site as it stands today and compared this with our historic analysis. This process has lead us towards the evolution of the Site Masterplan and Landscape proposals around the development which are described in Section 6.
