Abstract/Summary
Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out a desk- assessment on an area of land measuring approximately 2 hectares to the west of Ladybridge Drive, Shelfleys, Northampton. No archaeological remains are known from within the development area. A prehistoric site of national importance is situated close by to the north-east, and important finds from the prehistoric to the Roman period have been found around the development area. Documentary and cartographic sources consulted show that the land has been open field from the 17th century to the modern day. The results of the desk-based assessement suggest that there is a possibility of surviving Iron Age and Roman archaeology being present on the site.
