Abstract/Summary

An archaeological evaluation was carried out at 3 Corby Road, Stanion close to an area known to have been the site of medieval kilns producing pottery during the 12th to 15th centuries AD. The evaluation was carried out to the brief prepared by M. Flitcroft of Northamptonshire County Council, on behalf of Corby Borough Council. The evaluation comprised a brief documentary search followed by geophysical survey and sample trial trenching. The trial trenching revealed the remains of a small structure or structures close to Corby Road together with the remains of medieval and later pits. No evidence of pottery production was found within the site area suggesting the main focus of activity was further to the north.
