Abstract/Summary

The earliest occupation comprised a late Saxon cellared building and pits. A Saxo-Norman timber structure was identified. Features of the 13th-14th centuries included quarry pits, two wells, two malting ovens, a bread oven and fragments of four stone buildings. Activity in the 15th century was sparse. Features of the 16th/17th centuries comprised late occupation of one of the buildings, two latrine pits, three wells, two stone-built pits and the robbing of medieval stone. There was clay tobacco-pipemaking debris from the 18th century together with five wells, two cellars, six boundary walls and nine latrine pits.
