Abstract/Summary

The mill and millers accommodation at Perio is a multi-phase building, but the structure studied principally dates from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A mill is recorded on or near the site since the eleventh century. Little remains internally of the machinery which it would have contained during its working life apart from a dressing machine used to grade the flour and occasional brackets, sockets and chutes. Nothing remains of the fixtures and fittings which were associated with paper making on the site between 1718 and 1851 when it reverted to being a corn mill.
