Abstract/Summary

A gradiometer survey was carried out to the west of Sandy Lane, Duston. The survey has been successful in identifying areas of archaeological activity. Two discrete areas of possible settlement activity have been identified, situated in the north and centre of the survey area. The gradiometer anomalies correspond well with known crop marks of possible archaeological origin. An area of magnetic debris corresponds with a series of rectilinear cropmarks, possibly of modern origin relating to allotments in the south of the survey. Agricultural marks dominate the two southern fields of the survey with additional crop marks identified in the three fields in the north of the survey area.
