Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted an archaeological watching brief at the Market Place, Kettering during August 2008 at the time of geotechnical test excavation conducted in advance of its rejuvenation. Remains of late post-medieval structures were observed in two of the three pits located under the car park at the southern end of the site and relate to the former properties demolished c. 1926-1950. The features that were identified comprised an ironstone cellar wall, a brick-lined pit and an ironstone wall footing. No other archaeology was observed and no finds were retained.
