Abstract/Summary

The geophysics survey was not greatly informative although a series of possible linear ditches and a number of pits were suggested within the central part of the site. Two trenches were excavated, one of which revealed a curvilinear gully and three ditches dated to the late Iron Age, early 1st century AD and a Roman ditch of probable later 1st-century date. Dominating both trenches were three large Victorian rubbis pits, which contained a substantial amount of domestic waste, including several large sherds of 18th-century Chinese export porcelain.
