Abstract/Summary

RSK Environment Ltd was commissioned by Taylor Wimpey East Midlands to undertake archaeological building recording of a store at St Crispin’s Chapel, Duston, Northamptonshire. The work is in response to Condition 2 of planning consent (N/2010/0800) for the demolition of the former store building, as stipulated by Northampton Borough Council. The use of the structure as a Mortuary House is recorded through anecdotal oral history. It was later converted for use as a general gardeners’ store associated with the cemetery. Documentary, map, and architectural style would place the structure as contemporary with the Chapel, thus constructed between 1876–1878.
